Pastoral History

In preparation for our 150th Anniversary in 2008, the anniversary committee has been searching our records to update the priestly succession at St. John's. As St. John's was always a small parish, by diocesan standards, many clergy served the parish, either as part-time clergy, or at times, as full-time cures. During the last 50 years, those serving the parish were as follows:

• 1946-1975 - Archibald Shrady Hill, Rector
• 1975-76 - Various supply clergy
• 1976-1984 - Edward Herbert Tickner, Rector
• 1984 - Various supply clergy
• 1984-87 - Robert Frank Herrick and various supply clergy
• 1987-88 - Canon Mary Michael Simpson, Priest-in-Charge
• 1988-89 - Jane Cumming, Interim
• 1989-92 - Various supply clergy
• 1992-93 - George Packard, Assigned priest
• 1993-94 - Jane Cumming and various supply clergy
• 1994 - Rayner Wilson Hesse, Jr., Pastor
